Planning to visit Abu Dhabi? Check out The Founder’s Memorial

The Founder’s Memorial

The UAE capital Abu Dhabi boasts a plethora of iconic landmarks, and The Founder’s Memorial is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable ones.

This permanent tribute is dedicated to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates.

The Founder’s Memorial is an architectural gem that recently received the prestigious Collaboration of Design + Art Award (CODA) 2019 in the Institutional Category for its stunning attraction, The Constellation. This 3D portrait of Sheikh Zayed, made up of 1,327 geometric shapes suspended on 1,110 cables, forms a set of sparkling stars in the evening, making it the venue’s centerpiece.

This 3.3-hectare memorial, located at the edge of the Emirates Palace before the Corniche breakwater road, features two distinct spots – the Heritage Garden and Sanctuary Garden. The Heritage Garden is home to a variety of greeneries, including the UAE’s national tree, Ghaf trees, as well as sidr, acacias, date palms, henna, desert cotton, harma, sweak, and Caralluma.

The Founder’s Memorial was opened to the public on 22nd April, 2018, and has since welcomed a growing number of  visitors every year. It’s an awe-inspiring attraction that took six years to create and continues to attract both locals and tourists alike.

If you’re planning a visit to Abu Dhabi, The Founder’s Memorial should be on your list of must-visit attractions.
