RTA launches new bus routes in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced two new circular bus routes to enhance the city’s public transport network.

The routes, designated DH1 and DA2, are designed to improve connectivity between key areas of the emirate.

The DH1 route connects Dubai Hills with Equity Metro Station, operating on an hourly basis. On weekdays, the first bus departs Dubai Hills at 7:09 am, with the last trip at 10:09 pm. Weekend services are extended until 12:09 am.

The DA2 route links DAMAC Hills with Dubai Studio City, running every two hours. The service begins at 5:47 am daily, with the last departure at 9:32 pm. Fares for this route are set at AED5 per journey.

Adel Mohammed Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, stated that these new routes aim to “facilitate movement throughout the emirate. This includes providing convenient, fast, and seamless mobility options to improve integration with developer communities.”

The introduction of these routes reflects RTA’s commitment to expanding the public bus network and enhancing its integration with other mass transit methods, such as the metro, tram, and marine transport. By improving connections between various modes of transport, the RTA aims to make public transportation the preferred choice for mobility in Dubai.

This expansion of the bus network is expected to improve accessibility for residents and visitors in the connected areas. The DH1 route will benefit those traveling between Dubai Hills and the metro network, while the DA2 route will enhance connectivity between DAMAC Hills and Dubai Studio City.

The launch of these routes aligns with Dubai’s broader strategy to enhance its urban infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents. As the city continues to grow and develop, efficient and accessible public transportation becomes increasingly crucial in supporting its economic and social objectives.

The RTA’s initiative demonstrates Dubai’s ongoing efforts to create a comprehensive and integrated public transport system. By continually adapting and expanding its network, the RTA aims to meet the evolving needs of Dubai’s diverse and growing population.

As these new bus routes become operational, they are expected to provide more transportation options for residents and visitors in the connected areas, potentially reducing reliance on private vehicles and contributing to a more sustainable urban transport system.
