Dubai RTA opens new abra and ferry station at Souk Al Marfa

Souk Al Marfa
Free ferry rides for five months.

Now it’s even easier to get to Souk Al Marfa at Deira Islands, Nakheel’s waterfront marketplace and souk in Dubai. The abra and ferry services have been launched with a partnership between Nakheel and the Road Transport Authority (RTA), offering visitors free rides for the first five months.

Providing two routes linking Souk Al Marfa to Dubai’s Old Souq and Deira Old Souq, the 25-minute open journey operates from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm on weekdays and 10.00 am to 12.00 pm and 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The ferry runs between Souq Al Mafra and Al Ghubaiba from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm only on weekends ( Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Dubai’s oldest and most traditional trading hub will connect with the city’s newest island development. Families exploring the city can enjoy scenic views of the Deira Corniche, Deira Old Souq, Dubai Creek and the Gold Souq as they ferry.

For more information and details of trips, destinations and services, please visit the authority’s website: www.rta.ae or the RTA’s smart applications.

More than 900 shops currently operate at Souq Al Marfa with another 200 set to open soon across various categories such as carpets, lights, spices, fashion, electronics, as well as authentic Thai and Persian markets.

In 15 square kilometres of land, the Deira Islands are transforming Dubai’s Deira district into a world-class tourism, retail, and entertainment hub. With 40 kilometers added to Dubai’s coastline, including a beachfront, the project has paved way for the development of hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, and retail and leisure attractions.

Souq Al Marfa is within easy reach of Riu Dubai and the Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai – the first two resorts to open at Deira Islands.

In line with the new Saturday – Sunday weekend, Souk Al Marfa’s new operating hours are 10 am to 10 pm from Monday to Thursday, 2 pm to 12 midnight on Friday, and 10 am to 12 midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
